  • Inclusive Excellence Speaker Series:
    • Dr. Rameck R. Hunt, MD, FACP, FOMA, recounted his remarkable journey to medicine, marked by numerous obstacles and challenges. He shared the story of “the pact” he made with friends, Dr. Sampson Davis and Dr. George Jenkins, committing to overcome their circumstances and pursue higher education, including medical school. Through determination and mutual support, they defied the odds and fulfilled their shared dream of becoming doctors, demonstrating the power of resilience and friendship in the face of adversity.  He spoke in person on April 23, 2023, at the College.

  • Inclusive Excellence Speaker Series:
    • Mary Crossley, JD, discussed Race-Disability Intersectionality as a Health Equity Imperative. She outlined the importance of adopting an intersectional lens, particularly with respect to race and disability, in devising strategies to address health equity. Professor Crossley is a John E. Murray Faculty Scholar and director of the Health Law Program at University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She spoke in person on April 4, 2023, at the college.
  • The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) National Conference Renewal: Out of the Flames, Into the Future was held March 35, 2023. Attendees connected and learned through stories and research to bring awareness to Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) initiatives in relation to current events to the College of Medicine – Phoenix community. This panopto recording includes:

  • The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) 1st Annual SALUD (Student Advocacy, Leadership, Unity, and Diversity) Summit was held in Washington, DC on March 24–27, 2023. The Summit served as a forum for many key topics in health care, from chronic disease and medical Spanish to health care policy and allyship.   • The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) Brilliance Embodied - Elevating the Mission and Revitalizing our Purpose was held in Hartford, Connecticut in April 5-9, 2023.  The organization is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians.  The panopto recording highlights a few workshops such as Housing Instability and What Can Future Physicians to Do Better to Serve the Unhoused Community.
